Cyber Monday Deals: Thread, Matter and Philips Hue Smart Lighting

Smart lighting is both practical and fun, and with the arrival of Black Friday into Cyber Monday, Amazon.com has deep discounts on tap. Whether you’re looking for Matter, Thread, or just standard WiFi enabled LED lighting, there are good deals available while supplies last. Even Philips Hue kits are on sale, which are considered the best, but priciest, option.

If you’re not familiar, Matter is a smart home standard that was first announced in 2019. It is a joint effort between the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) which includes Amazon, Apple and Google.

Hundreds of other companies have since joined, and the first Matter supported lighting products are hitting the market as we speak.

Thread is a mesh networking technology that utilizes low-level networking that does not require traditional WiFi network connectivity, per se. It is meant specifically for Internet of Things (IoT) device connectivity. This allows the Thread enabled devices to network with each other, and use less energy than a typical WiFi enabled device.
