Lenovo ThinkVision P27h-20 product review

Home offices aren’t what they used to be: we have all had serious upgrades since COVID-19 changed our work environments forever. The Lenovo ThinkVision P27h-20 is a 27″ QHD monitor that is perfect for home office or corporate office users alike who need a high-quality display for their work. It has a number of features that make it ideal for office and collaboration productivity, including a four-sided near-edgeless display, a wide range of connectivity options, and a built-in speaker system. But if you’re looking for a reference-grade color gamut or 4K resolution, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

When considering any screen, resolution, and screen size are usually at the top of the list for consideration. The P27h-20 is 27″ in diameter, which is just right for the average desk. Those wanting more screen real estate can either use it as a secondary monitor if they’re using a laptop, or could even consider using two P27h-20 displays next to each other.

With a resolution of 2560×1440, which provides plenty of screen space for multitasking and viewing multiple documents at once. The display is also very sharp and clear, with excellent color reproduction. It is a bit surprising to not see native 4K support in this display, but the wide 16×9 aspect ratio provides plenty of room for side-by-side multitasking.

One of the first features of this monitor that stuck out to me was the impressive clarity. The display’s brightness and clarity make it ideal for spending countless hours in spreadsheets, presentations, or virtual meetings.

At no point did I feel that my eyes were strained with the contrast or brightness of the display, thanks especially to the anti-glare coating on the screen itself. This makes it practical in any working environment.

The P27h-20 also has a number of ports and connectors, including two USB-C ports, two HDMI ports, and a DisplayPort port. This makes it easy to connect to a variety of devices, including laptops and desktops. Personally, I prefer to use the USB-C cable which provides power to my MacBook Pro, sufficient for charging.

While The P27h-20 also has a built-in speaker system, which is a nice addition for a monitor, you’re not going to want to use them for anything more than basic video or sound effects. Hooking up external speakers is possible through either the monitor itself, or to your computer.

Finally, the slim profile of both the screen and the base with a height-adjustable arm is much appreciated. The base includes a slot to place your smartphone, but it won’t charge it. You could easily repurpose it to hold a pen or any other device like a USB thumb drive if that is more practical.

Adjusting the screen height or rotating the screen is simple. Cord organizers are attached to the display arm, and you can of course optionally mount it to a VESA-compatible monitor mount if you want.

With an average retail price of $319, it’s a competitive price for a top-notch monitor for typical office productivity applications, web browsing, and casual multimedia use. If you’re looking for reference-grade Adobe RGB color gamut support, analyzing photography, or a gamer, the P27h-20 is not the monitor for you.
